Day 9 Rain run

The view before the run

I had a pretty stressful day. It lead up to not being able to run at the time I wanted to then by lightning storms later in the evening. But once the lightning subsided I laced up, grabbed the pup and headed to the trail. I ran 4 miles but I didn't bring my phone so I couldn't get a pace. I was also more like a hurdle race as I came across a plague of nasty disgusting vile FROGS. Mother nature can be so cruel. Let's just say I wouldn't kill all the frogs but I'd be happy if they never existed in my general surroundings.

I think my daughter needs to work on form

Day 4 Pup run!

So it rained all day. Did inside stuff with the kiddos and ran some errands. Almost decided to skip my run but was a good girl and took Frek for a run. Runs are always slower with the puppy. Not that he is slow but he needs to mark every 1/8 of a mile and take at least one dump every mile. As you can imagine that slows the pace down a bit. But he enjoys it and I enjoy company that doesn't argue or talk back to me. I always feel like i'm going to sort out my life or organize something in my mind while I run. I never do. My mind is always empty. Then I thought to myself today, it's the only time I really don't have to think. It is glorious.

Day 4 run

4 miles doggy trail run
9:55 min/mile.

Frek and I after our run
He always has to take a little dip

Quick back story before Sparta

I just wanted to add a post that  shows where i've been in the past couple of a years. I have had 2 babies 18 months appart. I was not in great shape before that either. I am 5'4" and at the top of my first pregnancy I was 200lbs. After my second pregnancy I was 186lbs. I started my weight lost journey at 6 months postpartum  in June of 2011. I have lost over 50 lbs and now working on just being awesome. Here a few pictures to tell the story better.

Day 3 Tire Yippe

I think I managed to use cheesiest title ever. Now that that is out of the way today's workout is brought to you by the tire. Frek was along side me the whole time being, um, encouraging. I used my heart rate monitor today out of curiosity. Said 401 calories burned in 60 minutes. Not to shabby but looking for strength not really calories burned. Here is today's menu.

3 rounds

3 min Tire flip
30 seconds rest
3 min Ab planks
30 seconds rest
3 min Sledge hammer
30 seconds rest
3 minutes Russian twists using sledge hammer
30 seconds rest
3 minutes Box jump burpees

Yes i'm already feeling this. Now off to shower so that I can make it to the farmers market.

Day 2 to the Zoo!!

If you know me, you know I go to the little zoo a lot with the kiddos. Today I decided to pack them in the jogging stroller and run there. The run there was pretty rough, lot of up hill ending the the big hill at Thompson park before the zoo. We visited the zoo for about an hour then went home. Although you would think going downhill would be more fun than up it was very hard to keep a pace that didn't have me breaking my face and letting the stroller go rogue. Anyhoot I met a friend on the way home we chatted for 15 minutes or so and I forgot to turn Run Keeper off. Time was pretty good considering stops for lights and chatting. Now for some house cleaning and relaxing!

Day 2

Run pushing 70lbs
8 miles 90 min

My journey to Sparta

So far I've competed in 2 Spartan obstacle races. The Spartan Sprint in Ottawa which was the 5k version and the Spartan Beast at Mont. Ste-Marie which was 25k up and down the ski hill several times. My next race is the Super Spartan in new Jersey on September 8th. The in between version of these races. I've decided to try and blog about my journey to this race daily. Why this race? Because I want to be more competitive this time around. I ran the sprint for fun with a friend and the beast was just glorious to complete. This time around I'm working hard to place well. I've got all the equipment to workout at home. I'll be trying to blog what my work out is daily. Try being the operative word as time for anything but living is sparse. Oh, did I mention that on September 2nd, a  week before the Super Spartan, I am racing in the 18.12 mile race commemorating the battle of 1812? Time to get some!!
